To enjoy greater freedom of movement due to the absence of clothing.

To accept one's body and experience being vulnerable with the naked body, and to realize that being naked is no big deal and is beautiful and free and liberating!

To see other REAL naked bodies - not the photoshopped so called perfect bodies all over the media.

The ones like ours, with lumps and bumps and scars and tattoos!

To see and be seen, to accept and be accepted.

To notice feelings about seeing and being seen and to work through them in a safe yoga community.

Words cannot convey the value of (naked*)yoga – it has to be experienced.

Classes Description

Hips and Hamstrings

All levels

This Hatha-based class will focus on both stretching and strengthening. This practice will be based around the hips and hamstrings and bit (or lot) of core. It is very beneficial to those who lead a Yang life who are in need of the balance of creating space in the tissue, the muscles and the joints surrounding this part of the body. Anyone will benefit from this class.


All levels

Flow through a series of postures that are drawn from a variety of yoga styles linking movement with the breath as you improve strength, flexibility and balance. The calories will burn away as you sweat and move through each of the poses.


This class will focus on the basics of yoga with postures presented at a comfortable pace, allowing time for modifications and exploration, leading to increased balance, strength and flexibility. A great way to build a solid foundation of yoga basics.

LGBT Foundation

This class will focus on the basics of yoga with postures presented at a comfortable pace, allowing time for modifications and exploration, leading to increased balance, strength and flexibility. A great way to build a solid foundation of yoga basics.

Hey folks, just wanted to send some props out to Katherine for all the hard work she is doing to make this thing go. For me personally this is the best yoga class I've ever done. Katherine is very good at making it easy for those of us who aren't experts and helping when we need it. There are more classes being added and that makes it even easier to maintain your own personal momentum, better than the once a week classes and not as intimidating as the every day sessions. Katherine leads a naked yoga class that is appropriately challenging with respect, charm and good humour. If you think naked yoga would be a "fluff" class, Katherine will show beginner and experienced yogis otherwise. While I would not describe the class as spiritual, positive energies are created and shared ......

I attended my first yoga session ever at The Sanctuary on 17th with instructor Katherine last night. The Sanctuary is a perfect location, I found it to be intimate and inviting and felt at ease as soon as I entered the space. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and I thought Katherine to be an exceptional instructor. She is knowledgeable, motivating and patient. Why naked yoga?

Practitioners of naked yoga explain the lack of clothes frees them from negative feelings about their bodies and allows them to be more accepting of their physical imperfections, like stretch marks, love handles, or cellulite. Others are nudists to begin with and feel more natural in their birthday suit, so practicing naked yoga seems more natural. Whatever the reason to strip and stretch, teachers and practitioners of naked yoga feel it's a way to find a deeper connection with yourself and the world around you. Plus, if you're naked, you don't have to worry about your gals falling out of your top in Down Dog, or wedgies from your underwear.

What should I bring?

A mat, a water bottle, props if you like (blocks, straps) a small towel….. a friend!

Is there an age limit?

No, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian and comfortable in a nudist lifestyle. I am not currently running nude family programs.

Do I have to be naked?

Yes. You can start the class with clothes on but the real benefit of naked yoga comes from being …. well naked. If for women, it is necessary, you can leave your panties on.

Are the lights on?

Yes, full bright lights….. in the tea area and main reception area, in the studio - the lights are very dimly lit for a soothing class.

What about erections?

Most of us were nervous for our first class but the atmosphere we are creating is one of acceptance and non-judgment, it's surprising how quickly we forget we're nude. Erections are not an issue and in fact should be celebrated as part of manhood, although to be honest, you'll probably be working too hard to get hard but in the event that you experience an erection enjoy the sensation, but breathe and continue with your practice.

Naked yoga etiquette

  1. Bring your own towel and yoga mat.
  2. Shower before arriving, use deodorant but go easy on cologne or perfume.
  3. Don't stare at your classmates. It's not polite.
  4. When it's time to remove your clothes, don't hesitate. Most naked yoga classes expect all participants to remain in the buff.
  5. Be prepared to work. Naked yoga is just as physically challenging as any other type of yoga class.
  6. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
  7. Don't let your discomfort about being naked keep you from enjoying the class.
  8. No photos.
  9. Our stuff is in the same room, so turn your cell phone off.
  10. Respect. Respect for ourselves, others around us, the teacher, and our space.

Naked yoga (Sanskrit nagna yoga) is the practice of yoga without clothes. While many practice naked yoga at home and in nature, there are a growing number of participants in group classes. The practice is gaining popularity, notably in western societies that have more familiarity with social nudity.

Experiencing yourself naked in a safe and respectful environment, in the absence of any judgement, shame or criticism, nothing terrible happens, and you may even have quite a delightful experience.

I must admit I spent most of my teenage years, 20s and early 30s, really unhappy with my body, dieting more or less constantly. This dissatisfaction began when I started reading women's magazines. There was nothing really ‘wrong with me' but in comparison to what I saw, through my eyes, I wasn't good enough. And although I could make myself look good with cool clothes, I was always insecure and uneasy about what was underneath. When we consider the role that clothing plays in society, by design, clothing reminds us of our differences. I would love it if future generations didn't have to let this mar their early years.

During my teacher training, I was really evolving. I started feeling the teachings were changing me to accept. Accept me, accept others. With three daughters, the battle of trying to maintain their precious self-esteem while fighting the 'rest of the world', I started to realize that the only thing stopping us from doing what we feel we should do is one restriction. And we have that restriction because of fear. To remove fear a little at a time makes us stronger, more confident. By doing yoga with no clothes, those unhelpful perceptions are disproved, and the hang ups that hinder us are broken down. Furthermore, we experience being free of the need to judge and criticize others.

It took a long time to find the right location for my classes to become a reality. I needed the amazing spirits of Jade and Millie - two women I will be forever grateful to have in my life! The feedback from the first class and on was overwhelmingly positive. I was blown away, by the messages I receive from people having attended the classes.
